Royal Free texts appointments
The Royal Free Hospital in North West London has used funds from the NHS Innovation Fund to implement an out-of-hours automated booking service using text messaging for their Genito- Urinary Medicine (GUM) and Sexual Health clinics to provide a confidential 24 hour appointment service.

Neuroscience facility wins funding
One of the world's foremost brain imaging research facilities has received a major boost after being awarded £6.74 million in funding over five years by the Wellcome Trust. The former Functional Imaging Laboratory at University College London (UCL) is the recipient of a Wellcome Trust Strategic Award and becomes the Wellcome Trust Centre for Neuroimaging at UCL.

MRSA-protected uniforms introduced
Canterbury Christ Church University is the first university in the UK to pilot MRSA-protected uniforms. Some 450 of the Faculty of Health and Social Care students in nursing, midwifery, radiography, occupational therapy and operating department practice, have each been issued with full sets of MRSA-protected uniforms to wear on their work placements in local hospitals.
