Bio-Rad’s Asia Pacific Region hosted a series of seminars on quality control and accreditation during the week beginning Sunday March 26, 2006. Dr. Jim Westgard and Mr. Greg Cooper, Bio-Rad’s Manager of Clinical Standards and Practices, traveled to Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Taipei. Depending on the location, Dr. Westgard presented topics including:
- Correct Application of Westgard Rules (Doing the Right QC Right)
- The Truth About Quality Today, and
- Points of Care in Managing the Quality of Laboratory Tests
Greg Cooper spoke on what laboratories need to consider when preparing for accreditation under ISO 15189. (ISO 15189 is the first (and only) international laboratory practice standard published in 2003.) This presentation was given in Bangkok. Mr. Cooper also spoke on metrological traceability and uncertainty of measurement in Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. Greg did not visit Taiwan on this trip having given a similar seminar in Taipei very recently in 2005. | |  |
